Marketing in Two Worlds

The Internet Promise

We all react to the promise of the Internet and want those wonderful benefits for ourselves.  Who wouldn’t want FREE advertising?  Who wouldn’t want to reach out to millions of motivated customers with a simple mouse click?  So what happens is that thousands of real estate agents and brokers as well as thousands, possibly millions of other large and small businesses leap out into Cyberspace and wait for the good times to roll, but nothing happens. Whose fault is that?

WAS THE PROMISE A LIE?

The promise is real but it is not as easy to accomplish, as some people seem to think or hope it is.  As a real estate professional, what would you say to a customer who bought a $400,000 home from you a month ago and is now complaining that you sold him a bill of goods because he cannot turn around and sell his house today for $1,000,000?   You might tell this client that his expectations are unrealistic.  If his location would sustain it, you might advise him to upgrade his property in order to justify the price he wants.  Or, if he is in California, you might advise him to just sit tight for a few years and he will probably get all that he wants and more.

FOLLOW THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD

For those who want to enjoy all of the benefits that the Internet has to offer, I advise that you take a practical approach and follow the rules for Web design, marketing and advertising that will get you where you want to go.  Our Website at http://www.sellrealestate.net is a tutorial for real estate professionals who want the Internet to work.

Until you develop an effective marketing package, it is all pretty much a waste of time and money.

Two Marketing Worlds

All of the marketing and advertising opportunities available to us before the Internet are still here and make up what is called “The Traditional Advertising World.”  The Internet benefits we would all love to enjoy, i.e. FREE advertising that targets motivated prospects is known as “Internet Marketing.”   Internet Marketing includes good search engine placement for your Website and Email marketing to an opt-in database.  Most Web owners rely on Traditional Advertising to drive prospective customers to their Website.  Relatively few Web owners have custom Websites that actually help them use Traditional Advertising to segue into Internet Marketing, which means they will forever be stuck with at least one foot in the world of traditional marketing.  And Traditional Advertising is expensive and daily growing less effective.

FREE ADVERTISING
AND THE INTERNET WAY

The ideal, which is to obtain prominent placement on the major search engines for your keyword phrases comes at a price.

One way to reach your goal is to use one of the pay-per-click options available through Google and Yahoo.  It is possible to bid for a particular position on Yahoo or a positional range on Google.  The best keyword phrase to bid on is usually the name of your city coupled with the phrase, real estate.  So, an agent in Anaheim might want people looking for “Anaheim real estate” to find his or her site.  Any time a visitor actually clicked on one of these “Sponsored Sites,” the Web owner must pay a fee to the search engine.

A better way to reach your goal is to start with a custom or semi-custom Website so that you can get top positioning for your keyword phrase in the FREE section of the search engines.   Not only do more Web users rely on Websites in the free section but also the budget for obtaining and maintaining paid placement is very costly in many areas.  The ideal of obtaining Free search engine placement to reach millions of motivated prospects can only happen if your Website is set up properly.  To obtain a Free Custom Web Plan that will show you the way to reach the ideal, visit me online at

Check Your Web Design Savvy

What you and everybody else wants from the Internet is FREE advertising worth thousands of dollars a month.  And, this is doable but not with some cookie-cutter Website that comes loaded with standard information and links that are available to thousands of other agents who all want the same results that you want.  The Website that you set up for your business is the ultimate key to your success.  And, the design of your Website has to please both your prospects and the major search engines.

WALKING A FINE LINE

While it may seem that trying to develop a Website that pleases both search engines and people is a mighty tall order, it is really quite elementary, as Sherlock Holmes might have said had he lived in the Internet age.  The people who run the search engines know a thing or two about marketing and advertising so it turns out that if you simple strive to create a Website that will please the search engines, you are well on the way to pleasing your customers as well.  The outcome here is what is known as an “Optimized Website.”  And, when you have a site that is truly optimized for people and for search engines you will begin to see the results of the wonderful Internet Promise.  Call me if you are ready to begin. 888-814-5347.
