You Be the Judge

Web pages that encourage visitor participation are known as interactive Web pages.  It is well known that people respond favorably to interactive marketing.  This was true long before the Internet.  Remember the Publisher’s Clearinghouse Magazine Sales campaign that relied on direct mail but was very interactive.  In order to participate and possibly win millions of dollars, one had to peel and paste stickers and follow all sorts of silly directions…BUT PEOPLE DID IT!  Maybe they still do, but I am off their mailing list. 

 

NOW IT IS EASIER

Most companies do not have the marketing budget enjoyed by Publisher’s Clearinghouse so could never have been so creative using the print media but now, with the Internet, things have changed.  Now, anyone who is clever enough to present information in an interactive rather than a static format, is miles ahead of the competition.  Check your own preferences by answering the questions below.

Judging You by Your Answers

DO YOU LIKE INTERACTIVE WEB PAGES?

You can tell a lot about yourself by the way you answered the three questions.  I’ll tell you how I answered the questions and what each answer means.

1.  When you click on a long page of text do you

Usually I click away, QUICKLY!  I NEVER read every word.  I might Scan and print if the information is terribly compelling.  Long pages of text tend to be static pages and I prefer some interactivity.

 

 2.  Interactive tools such as mortgage calculators

A well-designed form fascinates me and makes it easy for me to obtain information quickly.  I love mortgage calculators where I can see the difference in payment depending on interest rate and down payment.  It is so personal.  I love it!

 

3.  Which Heading is most intriguing?

Even I am not interest in Noel Markham’s Mission Statement and I would never read 25 reasons to do anything.  However, Test Your Marketing I.Q. gets me. As a person with over 25 years as the head of my own Marketing Company I would expect to score well on any marketing test but I will take that test every time!   How about you?  Would you like to Test Your Real Estate I.Q.?

  As a young woman fresh out of college, I started teaching in a private school while working towards my doctorate at the University of California.  It didn’t take long at all to discover that my most of my teenaged students were exceedingly bored by the curriculum.  I began to experiment with a variety of interactive teaching/learning methods that were highly successful and that made the day fun both for me and for the students.  For fifteen years, teenagers and young adults in the California schools system were the subjects of my study of Human Nature.
